Once again our faithful and vigilant government agencies are taking action to protect us from the criminal element that resides in our nations’ rural communities. This time the great dairy state of Wisconsin is pursuing the nefarious outlaw, Vernon Hershberger, an Amish farmer who sold raw, unpasteurized milk (that’s milk straight from the tap) to American citizens who wanted to buy … raw, unpasteurized milk.
Hershberger was acquitted of three of four charges and fined $1,000 for the fourth, but this was unsatisfactory for our guardians who want him jailed. I, for one, am grateful that, during this tough economic time, our conscientious public servants are wisely expending our hard-earned tax dollars to ferret out and prosecute these peddlers of illegal milk that thumb their noses at our wise government officials who know what is best for us. Now when will they start doing something about unlicensed lemonade stands that pop up in our neighborhoods this time of year?
